Critter Creek Railway is a backyard short line
branching off the Denver & Rio Grande system. It’s a dual scale line on 4.75”
gauge track. The 1.5” scale narrow gauge Plymouth diesel was borrowed from the
White Pass narrow gauge. It pulls four flats and is great for neighborhood
passenger service. The 1” scale has a mini Critter Creek Plymouth used for
short freight service. The steam roster consist of an early D&RG 2-4-0 used
mainly for the pleasure of the chief operating officer. For quick turn runs
there is the Western Pacific Red Car, easy to roll out for a nice run on the
Critter Creek. The Creek itself starts at the head waters of Catfish Falls and
flows down stream to Trout Lake. In it’s course it passes under three bridges,
one of which is in the middle of a 30 foot trestle. The rail is operational and
is being improved with additional landscaping.
